Watch "Waukazoo: the History of Northport"!

Made for Northport's Sesquicentennial

Welcome!

The picturesque harbor town of Northport lies at the tip of Michigan’s Leelanau Peninsula surrounded by stunning waterfront views, wooded forests and hills of vineyards and fruit bearing orchards.  Within the small village you will find unique shops, galleries and restaurants along with an old Masonic lodge that houses our historical museum.  It was founded in 2003 by a small group of local residents whose mission was to find, gather, sort, research, and preserve the rich history of Northport and the surrounding area, for its residents and visitors.

Since then, our museum collection has been made possible by the many people who have so generously donated artifacts and documents, without which we would not have been able to have such a full display of historical stories here at NAHA. These holdings contain a collection of Northport history, some of which is over 170 years old. This, along with the countless hours that many people have spent volunteering their time and energy towards creating this space, has been a spirited community effort to engage the public as we bring history to life.

Over the years we have offered programs such as Family History Days, Cemetery Walks, Barn, Garden and Home Tours along with monthly local and Michigan history programs in our spacious community room upstairs. If you are planning a future visit to Northport please plan on stopping by our museum and join us for a tour of our exhibits and gift shop.

We look forward to seeing you!
